Today for clubs our sewing group graduated from hand sewing to sewing on the machine.
Firstly we learnt how to insert the threads into the sewing machine. It was basic at first until we came into the difficult parts. Which were inserting the threads into the tiny needle holes and keeping up with the instructions on how to insert the bobbin. We Learnt how to use the machine and re-thread the bobbin. ( A bobbin is a cylinder holding thread, yarn, or wire, used especially in weaving and machine sewing).
Afterwards we practiced sewing on thin layers of fabric. Mele and I took turns straightening the threads on the edges and using the pedal. If you don't know what the pedal is for it is for making the needle go up and down threading the fabric. We practiced on a red thick fabric before using thinner fabric. Then we made the border of our fabric and continued going on. Unfortunately we did not finish in time.
Next term our group are going to be creating our scarfs. I think it would be easier using a machine but I also think it is going to be difficult. For machines have takes time to insert everything in the right place. Next term is going to be awesome!.
