Day 11 – He Shoots, She Scores!

Activity 1

Take a picture of yourself participating in a popular New Zealand sport. On your blog tell us the name of the sport and why you have chosen it.

This photo is from last year, with room 7 of me and other students playing snag golf. I chose this sport because I thought that snag golf is nearly identical to actual golf.

Activity 2

Write a short paragraph describing your sporting hero. Who is he/she? Why are they your favourite sportsman?

My favourite sportsman is the one and only, NBA player, Stephen Curry. He’s my favourite sportsman because he’s very inspiring. Though he is not as tall as the other basketball players, he proves in every game that size is just a number. Short or tall it doesn’t matter. It’s the stamina, courage and agility you have when you play the sport. He’s a very exquisite basket player and one of the most famous.

Bonus Activity

According to the Love New Zealand website, the most popular sports in New Zealand are rugby union, rugby league, netball, soccer and cricket. In your opinion, which of these sports is the best one? On your blog tell us which sport you think is the best. Be sure to tell us why. Give us as many reasons as you can!

I would say Rugby union. Rugby union is a well known sport in NZ and if you don’t know, our New Zealand rugby union team is the best in the world. A majority of the children and adults in NZ play rugby. Our NZ haka is now famous around the world too. American sport teams imitating our haka in a good way I guess. Also because watching rugby is very interesting, the competitive vibe travels through the room, causing shouts and cheering towards the t.v.

NZ🇳🇿 Vs Great Britain🇬🇪

Tomorrow morning, at 3:30 am the NZ Men's Sevens team is playing Great Britain to determine which country is going head to head to go to the the quarter finals. Hopefully NZ beats Great Brritain and the following countries so that we NZ could get their fist gold. Good luck guys, win us a good game. 

Women's Sevens🏉🎖

For the Olympics our NZ Sevens girl competed in the Olympics representing NZ. They had made it to the finals against Australia but unfortunately lost. Points (24:17). Though it was an upset because we didn't win gold, it was also great for we won the silver medal. Congratulation girls.!! 

Hurricanes🌊 vs Lions🦁

A huge congratulation to the Hurricanes who did not just make it to the finals but won the super rugby tournament against Lions. But as I watched the game the Lions brought up a great fight. The score of the game was 20:3 to Hurricanes.

Kelston vs Sacred Heart

I just want to send good luck to my brother Sifa. Today he is having a rugby match against Kelston Boys. They have beaten them once so why not again. But it all comes up to who plays fairly and extremely good. I would also like to wish the 1st 15 boys good luck to. Make Sacred proud!!

Today for reading, the Kakapo reading group read an article called "A tour like no other." in the school journal. The article was about the Springboks touring in NZ in 1981. In the article, I read about how the South African people treated each other and the way that different races were also being treated as well as the two countries playing rugby against each other.
