Our fun task for the day, was to list a word of each letter that relates to Christmas. Here are the words I came up with.

A - Angels - that shone brightly informing those of the birth of Jesus

B -Bethlehem - The birthplace

C - Christmas carols - going door step to doorstep singing christmas song

D - Decorations - hung around the house to show the christmas spirit

E - Eggnog - a popular Christmas beverage

F - Feliz navidad - Spanish phrase that means “merry christmas”

G - Gift giving - Giving gifts to others

H - Holy - The vibe felt by pagans who celebrate Christmas

I - Ice -

J - Jesus - Son of god who was born on Christmas day

K - Kings - the kings that gives gifts to Jesus on the day he was born

L - Little drum boy - a popular christmas song written by Kathrine Kennicott

M - Mistletoe - a plant hung around area, where people have to kiss, if they are underneath it

N - Northpole - the location of Santa’s workshop

O - Ornaments - that are hung on trees to show tradition & christmas spirit

P- Partridge - Medium sized, non migratory game birds. They are mentioned in a prominent song called, Twelve days of Christmas

Q - Quilts - given as gifts too for extra warmth in the winter holiday

R - Reindeer - santas transport

S - Snowman - creating a figure out of snow

T - Toys - a gift often given to children on Christmas day

U - Unity - being united with family & friends

V -  Vacation - going on a Christmas holiday

W - Winter Wonderland - the setting of Christmas in some countries

X -  Xmas - abbreviation for Christmas

Y - Yuletide -archaic term for Christmas

Z- Zoey -Rudolph, the red nosed reindeers, girlfriend in the original movie

Reading - W.A.L.T: to make judgments about what we read

What does it mean by Bengal tigers are the most numerous in numbers? It means that there are a great amount of the bengal tigers. The Bengal tiger is the most common tiger specie. Where can the tigers be found? Bengal tigers are commonly found in India with a small population found in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Myanmar. Which country has the most population? There is a massive population of bengal tigers in India. Why are the Bengal tigers endangered? They are endangered due to nearby villagers killing them and because of their habitat being destroyed due to deforestation. Where does the name Bengal come from? The name Bengal comes from a state in India which is called, Bengal. What is WWF’s mission for the Bengal tiger? WWF’s mission for the bengal tigers, is to double the amount of wild tigers. What are some actions WWF are taking to increase the number of Bengal tigers? WWF are strengthening anti poaching efforts, empowering communities and stopping illegal wildlife trade. What does this mean “This tiger subspecies is at the top of the food chain in the wild”? This means that the tiger has no predator of it’s own whatsoever though the sub specie does indeed have prey. Who would disagree with the work WWF is doing for the tigers? People who are frightened of these tigers will definitely discourage the work of WWF for they have no interest in saving an animal whom they see as dangerous and treacherous. How can we in NZ help to support the mission of WWF? We can encourage the act of strengthening anti poaching efforts, empowering communities and stop illegal wildlife trade on our blogs or take it to the press and express our opinions on the endangerment of the specie.

Back to the WALT What is your opinion about the work of WWF? I think that the work of WWF needs to be recognized and acknowledged globally. They’re not only fighting for tiger rights but are also saving many other wildlife too. Why does this charity exist? This charity exists so it can help revive endangered wildlife species or wildlife species in need of help.

Puberty

As my create work for reading, I created a DLO about what I learnt about Puberty using google draw. Linda, Maara and I are currently working on our short film about Puberty.

In my DLO it contains information about the theories and studies of the early development of Puberty. Also, the signs of Puberty forgirls and boys.

Sun smart quiz

William Shakespeare Research

For reading, my class have been researching about one of the most dominant English poets in history, William Shakespeare. I created a google drawing with five hyperlinked frames that lead to a separate doc explaining the headings in the frames. I couldn't quite figure out how to save the google drawing onto my blog as a image with the links to the documents. The links to the headings are listed underneath the image.

Poetry language feature poster!

Our sharing work for this week, was to create a Poetry language feature poster!. My Poster includes a few language feature you can include in your Poems to make it more interesting. Along with the language features, I have found and written some examples of those language features.
Personally, my favourite language features would be Personification and Alliteration.

Rabbit 🐇care booklet

For reading and our inquiry learning, my class have been reading several articles and stories on animal abuse, as well as caring for animals. We decided to create a care booklet about a certain animal. I chose to create a care booklet about rabbits, using Google slides.

 In my booklet, it contains information about the environment you rabbit should be living in, what food to give your pet, and what to food you should avoid giving your rabbit. It also includes information such as Exercise for your rabbit and keeping your rabbit healthy. I hope that by making and sharing this booklet, it will not only encourage rabbit owners, but owners of variety animals, to take care of their pets and be a responsible pet owner. I hope you enjoy my care booklet!.

Water Pollution Animation

For the past 2 weeks, my reading group, Kea, have been reading articles about water Pollution.
 It's not too late to clean up polluted rivers and streams, 
Fresh Water Quality and availability,
 Turning the tide on water pollution  
After we read all 3 articles, we had to do our reciprocal reading sheets. Reciprocal reading, contains 5 stages..

We then had to move onto our sharing/creating work about Water Pollution. The Kea group decided to do a animation as our sharing work, based on all 3 articles which we had read and water pollution. Why the Treaty of Waitangi was needed

My reading group Kea, worked together to find out Why the Treaty of Waitangi was needed. Here is what we came up with.

Why a treaty was needed?

Maori-  

They desperately needed the treaty due to the behavior of European settlers in Kororareka/ Russell.  Also because the Europeans offered better and more advanced weapons which the Maori people wanted their hands on. They also signed the treaty because they wanted regulated settlement and support in controlling settlers and land sales.

Why some didn’t sign the treaty

The treaty was not passed on to some areas in NZ, like Hawks bay. There were treaty meetings, which some chiefs did not attend. The negotiators were impatient and decided to cut them out. Copies of the treaty reached other areas, but the chiefs refused to sign it. The chiefs valued their independence and were not prepared to work for the Queen.

Europeans -

The Europeans wanted the Treaty because they wanted all their Land ( Oil, Weapons, Tech and power, fame and righteousness).

Private Peaceful summary: Chapter 5🏵

Chapter 5: Twenty-four minutes past twelve
The colonel comes knocking on the door complaining to Miss. Peaceful that Charlie had stole Bertha, Charlie doesn't budge and refuses to tell the Colonel where Bertha(Dog) is. Mrs. Peaceful argued along with Charlie and the Colonel, then finally she offered to buy the dog. The colonel took the pity offer, and left. Soon Big Joe and Bertha became best of friends, Bertha would sleep on his bed but she wasn't allowed to. One day Molly stops visiting the Peaceful family because the Colonel told Molly's parents about the incident that occurred with Bertha. He told Molly's parents that the peaceful children were thieving rascals, so her parents forbid Molly to see any of them. Charlie had no hope of seeing Molly, for his conversations with Molly's parents ended up with a slam in the face. Charlie hoped that Tommo could do better, so later on Tommo became their messenger, exchanging letters to each other and meeting up with Molly secretly. But Molly's mother ends up finding their letters and ends up telling everyone they are love letters. Tommo ends up feeling betrayed and sad because they are meeting behind his back.
One day the find Bertha shot by the colonel, the only question asked at the time was by Molly "Why, why?.

Chapte Four-Private Peaceful💐

Chapter Four: Ten To Midnight
In this chapter the boys had realized that the stones Molly told their futures with was very correct. But unfortunately whenever they weren't with Molly, they were not so lucky. They had gone poaching for the first time without Molly and disaster struck. Tommo fell asleep as he was on the lookout, but usually the presence of Molly kept him awake. They were caught by the Colonel's lookout, Lambert. They were taken to Big house to the Colonel and were given a punishment. They also had to apologize to the Colonel for trespassing and as their punishment, they had to clean the colonel's dog kettles every Sunday till Christmas. Molly got better by then and continued going school. As Tommo turned 12, Molly and Charlie moved out of school to work at the big house and Tommo found that he hardly got to see any of them. He began to feel left out and the stories he told them didn't interest them. One day a plane landed near Charlie and Tommo and the pilot asked them for some directions. Later he had offered them some humbugs. His hum bugs are confiscated at school by Mr. Munnings and was given 6 whacks on his hand with a ruler. Charlie came home and told Tommo he had stolen Bertha because the Colonel was going to shoot her because she was too old so Charlie told her and hid her in his father's old shack. 

Chapter One Summary-Private Peaceful🌻

Private peaceful is the novel my reading group is reading. We read a chapter a week also completing worksheets we are given based on the chapter we have read. This is my brief summary on the first chapter.

Chapter one: Five Past ten
In the first chapter, Tommo Peaceful, a soldier at war tries to flash back to his child hood moments at school when he first started. He also remembers his dads funerals and how he regretted not running away from the falling tree or his father would still be alive. His brother, Charlie Peaceful, is introduced and he is three years older then him. Charlie is caring and tough, he stands up for Tommo, even gets into fights for him. Also Mrs. Peaceful, Molly, Mr. Munning, Big Joe, Miss. McAllister and Molly is introduced.

My Identity

Our identity project was to create something that represented who I am. I chose to go simple a describe myself using google draw. In my drawing I have showed my different personality and my dis likes and likes. Also my cultures, Religion, the sports/subjects I like and my family. These are all what represent myself.

Dancing Robots set world record

1,007 robots were set up in China to dance to set a new world record for the number of dancing robots. All the mini robots were controlled by one mobile. Though some robots stumbled and fell it didn't really matter at all. Again I had gotten this news article from Kiwi Kids News.

More than a thousand robots were simultaneously set to dance at a festival in China. And, they’ve danced their way to a world record.

Each of the 1,007 robots were controlled by just one mobile phone and had to dance for a whole minute.

However, a handful of the robots fell flat, some physically toppled over and others failed to perform. Still, the majority executed the programmed movements for a full minute and were counted towards the total tally, for the Guinness World Records title of “Most robots dancing simultaneously.”

NZ Equestrian Teams fall on 4th place!

At first when I heard the news that the NZ equestrian representative came 4th, I was sad. I was hoping for another medal but I was also glad. Fourth is better than coming last and not giving up. The equestrian athlete Sir Mark Todd just fell flat but hadn't stumbled(You see what I sis there, No? ok). The article I read the news from was a Kiwi Kids News article.

The NZ equestrian team finished 4th after a disappointing jumping round from Sir Mark Todd.

He uncharacteristically dropped four rails in the team showjumping phase to see the Kiwi’s tumble to fourth.

Riding third after Jonelle Price had dropped two rails and Clarke Johnstone had gone clear, Todd could afford one rail to give New Zealand gold and even three would have been enough to see the team match their London effort four years ago and be third.

But Todd and his horse, Leonidas II, couldn’t make it.

France got gold on 169.00 points ahead of second-placed Germany on 172.80 and overnight leaders Australia ending with bronze at 175.30.

This was Sir Mark Todd’s eighth Olympic games, and he has won five medals in previous games.
