Rabbit šŸ‡care booklet

For reading and our inquiry learning, my class have been reading several articles and stories on animal abuse, as well as caring for animals. We decided to create a care booklet about a certain animal. I chose to create a care booklet about rabbits, using Google slides.

In my booklet, it contains information about the environment you rabbit should be living in, what food to give your pet, and what to food you should avoid giving your rabbit. It also includes information such as Exercise for your rabbit and keeping your rabbit healthy. I hope that by making and sharing this booklet, it will not only encourage rabbit owners, but owners of variety animals, to take care of their pets and be a responsible pet owner. I hope you enjoy my care booklet!.

Shape Inforgraphic

This is a shape inforgraphic that I created along with Mason and Soane. I taught them how to add a table, how to add shapes onto a google drawing, how to add a text box and how to download a image onto your netbook. I had fun working with them.

Chow Chow dog profile

This term, for 3 week, we are going to be learning how to be a good pet owner. For our class task, we had to research information on one dog breed. The dog I chose to do research was a Chow chow. Here is my Chow Chow profile.

Man Made and Natural causes of Airpollution

This is Maara, Mary and I's presentation that we(Maara) presented in our school hall for our inquiry presentations. We had switched our presentations because we didn't have enough time to finish our other project so we improvised and came up with this!. To support our presentation we also created a Kahoot quiz to test the children's knowledge on Air Pollution.  Enjoy our presentation.

Te oro šŸŒŽclass play

On Wednesday, a couple of the room 7 students are going to showcase a play at Te oro. The play is about Papatuanuka(Mother earth) and what humans have done to cause her such distress. In our play we have Aaliyahna playing Papatuanuku, Luisa(me) as the narrator/nature ranger and we have other students as our prop holders, who come in and out through out the whole play. If you want to watch our whole play and see for yourself, come on Wednesday the 12th of April to the Te Oro centre.

I guarantee you our play isn't going to disappoint you but give you something to think about about our earth.

Media team photographers for Te Oro Presentations

On Friday, 5 members from our school media team and I were assigned an important job at Te oro when we have the Inquiry Presentations with all the Manaikalani schools. 6 students from our school and 6 students from St Pius are going to go to the Presentations as Manaikalani's Te oro media team or as I like to say Photographers. At Te oro we have to take photos of the projects/presentations, the students presenting, the school performances, art displayed in the Te oro center and more photos of the schools attending Te oro. I am very excited to be taking on this important role and getting to interact with other students as well. We have also been given a task sheet for the types of photos Fiona Grant wants us to take.

Inquiry Project presentations

For the past 2 weeks or so, my inquiry group have been working on our Inquiry presentations which we will be presenting at school and hopefully at Te Oro too. Our presentation is about Air pollution, the natural causes and man made causes of Air pollution. I have done my research and I have found several data on this.

Maara, Mary and I are working on the bigger part of our presentation, which is making our models. Lost?, we are making a medium sized project models with everything that causes Air pollution. We have started on making a few of our models including our volcanoes and factories. In our model, we will have some hand on activities, we are going to make our mini volcanoes explode and we will demonstrate wind erosion. We have so much work to do and we are hoping we are gonna finish our project by Thursday. Here are a few photos of what we have accomplished with our models.

Why Water Pollution is important to think about

Water pollution is the corruption of water bodies, such as lakes, beaches, rivers, streams, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. It is a form of environmental degradation which develops when pollutants are being released into water bodies. Water pollution is a major issue in our world, caused by human beings; it threatens the health and well being of humans, plants, and animals.

At first, we humans were not aware that our habit of throwing rubbish would lead to the death of sea animals. How’ you ask? When we throw our rubbish on the ground (our glad wrap, chips packets...etc.), our rubbish ends up being swept up into our water drains, which leads to the ocean. The rubbish goes down the drain, flows into the ocean and sea animals swim by mistaking the rubbish we throw away, for food. When the animals swallow the trash, it gets stuck in their  airways, preventing them from breathing properly. It also stays in the sea animals stomachs preventing them from digesting food, worst case scenario, they starve to death. Therefore, water pollution  destroys the habitats of fish species and other animals.

It is not only our litter that is harming sea life, but other forms of toxic waste that is being released into the water.
The death of sea animals can also be caused by cow feces, also known as cow poop, which washes into rivers. Farmers put pesticides on their crops, which the rain washes into rivers. We  have also been putting chemicals down our drains. Chemicals such as paint, cleaning products, oil and solvents. Putting chemicals in our drains has the same result as when we litter, the fish end up dying.  If our sea animals die, our food chain collapses, this could even lead to the end of the world, is this what you all want?.

If water pollution continues at the same rate, fishing industries will be put out of business and be severely damaged.  Eventually fish will not be bought or be sold at seafood shops, which is bad news for seafood/fish lovers and for fishing industries. People could lose their jobs, which could also lead to the loss of money for the employees and the fishing companies. Imagine the lives we are ruining by killing the innocent yet delicious fish, but we can make a difference to prevent this from happening.

The contamination of water also affects humans, and our world. Serious diseases can spread to humans and animals as a result of sea or river pollution. Some areas of the world survive on one source of water, and if that water gets polluted, they have no choice but to use that water. This  can lead to dehydration, cancer, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach aches, etc. In some other nations, fishing is a key source of revenue for their economy.

New Zealand is one of the many countries with a large amount of polluted water bodies. Due to this issue in our country, we as New Zealanders are collaborating to make a difference in the world, as well as Nz. There are many water supported charities that raise money to give water and encourage others to conserve, and to stop water pollution. One of the most popular water charities are the Water for all campaign. Their main focus is to Work together to end poverty and injustice,  I couldn’t of stated it better. But charities aren’t the only way that we show that we care for our water. Schools/colleges/universities in Nz create and share data they have learnt on varieties of environmental pollution. They share information using their blogs, websites, posters and sometimes they take it to the press, all this to spread news world wide.  Adults and children are helping to revive Papatuanuku (mother earth). But to be able to do this, we have to start small and start off making Aotearoa a livable and safe environment.

Water pollution affects almost all living aspects on earth. This could all be prevented by doing right by our environment; pick up rubbish, do not put chemicals down drains, plant trees and be water efficient. Many lives are put at risk because of water pollution. Lets work together to reduce water pollution on earth so that animals, humans, plants and trees may live in peace and harmony. Think about your selfless actions, and the lives you are putting at risk, whether you are not aware of it, the fault lies upon you!.

My Inforgraphic

(My inforgraphic)

Today, 2 other students in the media team and I taught 6 students in Room 9 how to make an inforgraphic using google drawing and a google slide. We were each assigned two students each, I worked with Key and Josephine.

I taught them how to create a google slide and what to include in a inforgraphic; we chose to do a inforgraphic on ourselves. In the inforgraphic we listed things we are good at, what we love, our favourite colour, how much siblings we have and our social goals. I also taught them how to upload a google presentation/slide on their blogs.

I felt very proud of myself when I watched Mrs. Raj's face light up when she saw the work that Key and Josephine had created. I also felt very proud of the work I managed to do within the hour I had worked with Josephine and Key.

Respect ✔

As part of our PB4L (Positive Behavior For Learning) we are focusing on our respect values. The first value we were working on was respect for self. Each class member had to come up with an original quotes that represents what respecting self is to us. Here is my quote I had written about self respect.

Lyric of the Week~HolidaysšŸŽ¤šŸŽ™

During the first week of the Holidays,  had been listening more into songs. Today's lyric of the week is Don't dream it's over cover by Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande (Originally sung by Crowded House). I chose this song because it speaks about never getting up "there is freedom within".

Here are the lyrics

There is freedom within
there is freedom without
Try to catch a deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead
many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Our Cup Song performance!

Music Inquiry

Today our music inquiry group finally performed our Cup song item. At first rattles went through my body but when I found out that we were getting help from the girls in our class I was moved. It was time to sing and I was ready but also nervous. The start of our performance was shaky but Angelica and I ended it on a high note(I mean a positive ending). Maara and Courtney did a great jobs on keeping the cups on beat. Also Fusi, Linda, Mele and Dora backed us up by singing with us, thank you for that girls. I think all of us really out done our selves and that we can do better next time with more confidence. I would like to see the other groups beat our performance. Bring it on!.

Whitney Houston and Beyonce

Whitney Houston
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. In 2009, Guinness World Records cited her as the most awarded female act of all time.

Beyonce
BeyoncĆ© Giselle Knowles-Carter is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child and rose to fame in the late 1990's as lead singer of R&B girl-group Destiny's Child.

I believe that these two artists are the most successful female artists of all time. Well thats just my opinion. But I can't seem to work out who is more success full in their careers out of Beyonce and Whitney Houston. If I were to come up with one I would say Beyonce. Beyonce has sold a lot of albums but I would say her latest album is a smash hit. Beyonce gets payed 3 million dollars a day just for that album, Lemonade.Image result for Beyonce Vs Whitney houston
