How to make Takakau(Maori Bread)

W.A.L.T: write succinct instructions in my procedure writing

Takakau, formerly known as Maori bread, is a traditional Maori bread. This bread does not use any sugar, or any rising agents.

Prep time: 5-8 minutes

Cook time: 30/35 minutes to bake

Ingredients needed

• 5 cups of flour
• 600ml of milk
• 5 teaspoons of baking powder

Cooking resources needed

• Large bowl
• Measuring cup
• Butter knife/fork
• Hands!

Method

Before prepping, preheat the oven to 200° (degrees).

Add in 5 cups of flour and 5 teaspoons of baking powder into a large bowl.

Pour in  600ml of milk into the centre of the bowl, stir the mixture well until it’s dough texture.

Roll the dough out on a bench spread with flour, knead the dough gently until the right consistency(Non sticky and compact).

Roll the dough onto a tray into a round shape, preferably 1 centimetre thick.

Bake for at least 25-30 minutes until it’s golden brown.

Preferably serve hot with butter, marmalade or jam for toppings. Serve with hot tea or coffee.

How to play Netball Rugby

Yesterday, my class was given the task to create a piece of procedure writing, which is the genre my class is focusing on this week, about How to play Netball Rugby. Basically Procedure is like a guide or following step to step instructions of how to do something. An example of a procedure is a Recipe, Recipes have several instructions of how to bake or to cook something.

 This is my short procedure writing on How to play Netball Rugby. Hopefully my procedure writing is well written enough that you know how to play!.

How to play Netball Rugby

Netball Rugby is a combination of two sports put together to create one game. The game contains netball rules and is played with a rugby ball, but any ball is suitable.

Netball rules are incorporated in the game, rules including no stepping with the ball, three feet away and three seconds with the ball. The rugby part incorporated in the game is the rugby ball and rugby passes.

Once you know the rules, positioning is the next step. There should only be two teams, with as many players as you prefer but as long as the teams are equal. Each team stand opposite to each other in a line in the middle of the court. One person, preferably the referee, stands in between both teams and then tosses the ball through the middle. Both teams make an attempt to receive the ball.

To win the game, the team with the ball must make their way to the end of the opposite court, following all rules, and place the ball in the try area. The team that scores the most amount of points win the game.

Sound experiment!⏱⏱🔦

Today for science we had done an experiment about sound.

Resources needed:
Jars
Scissors
Balloons
Sugar grains

Method:
1. Firstly, cut of the top of one balloon.

2.Then put the top bit of the balloon you cut on top of the jar like an lid. Before moving onto our next step, make sure the jar sounds like a drum.

3.Next, put a little amount of grain sugar on top of your mini drum and  hum. Observe to see what happens.

Our Results:

At first my group thought that the experiment was actually working until we found out that it was our noses making the sugar move.

Later on we found out that the experiment was false and also correct. We weren't very sure if it was the air from our noses or from the wind for we were standing outside. Miss.Stone had researched the author and found out that her published children s book about science. Also we watched a video where a man experimented the experiments in the exact book we used for our experiment. I'm not sure what to believe but I have to research more.

Procedure writing-Recipes

Another day that we learn about Procedure writing. Today's lesson was all about re-creating a recipe known to Miss.Stone when she was in intermediate. This recipe involves mostly potatoes so we had to come up with a name. When I say "we" I mean Lindakiki and Maara. Afterwards we are going to follow this exact recipe and hope that we have a great result. Here is our recipe and funky recipe name. Also if you ever want to try this recipe, you should know that it's a quick process depending on how much you are making.

Cheesy Minions and a side of Bob

Ingredients:

Potatoes (numbers depends on whether you're having lunch or a small snack)

Milk

Cheese

Salt and pepper(Pepper optional)

Butter

Bacon Bits

Salad(Tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, salad dressing-lemon)

Resources:

Microwave

Bowl x2

Wooden Spoon

Ice cream scooper

Grill

Forks, Knives

Plates

Method:

1. Wash or Clean your potato very well but leave the skin on.
2. Put potato in microwave for at least 3 minutes depending on the size.
3. Cut in half or just the top and scoop out the potato and into an empty bowl.
4. Mix the potato with milk, fillings(salt, pepper, butter, bacon bits)
5. Place the mixture back into the potato skin. Sprinkle on the cheese on top.
6. Put the potatoes under grill until the cheese melts.

Salad

1. Chop tomatoes into small wedges. Place wedges on top of 3 layers of lettuce.
2. Chop onions into thin pieces and once again place on top of lettuce.
3. Add the leftover bacon bits to the salad and then squeeze lemon on top for the dressing.

Writing procedure

Instead of writing a procedure today we were following a procedure. A guide to making a electric alarm. We had to choose out of five electric items. (E.g Electric Alarm, bank robber, Electric play ground). Maara, Mele and I chose the electric alarm for it looked like a fun process. 

At first getting the wires and objects in place was difficult until we actually went through the instructions twice to make sure the pieces were in right play. Soon we sped off like a rocket and ended up adjusting the alarm on. Just a few more steps and were soon finish are Siren. All to do was our batteries. We had to take our alarm off because our alarm was blocking the batteries from entering it's battery hole. 

As soon as we finished we were all filled with puzzled emotions because we didn't know what turned the electric alarm on. We pressed anything we thought was the buzzer and wallah it buzzed unexpectedly. I was very proud of our creation, all cause we followed the procedure properly. Now tomorrow we are hoping to create another hand made electric object.
