Tamaki Regeneration visit

Today, two people who work for the Tamaki regeneration company visited my class to talk to us about their jobs and the houses being constructed in our community. Sarah and Glen told us loads of information about the new houses. I Learnt that the new houses have double glazed windows which prevent condensation. Also, that the houses were estimated to last about 100 years. Another fact I learnt was that the houses are indeed earthquake resistant and are insulated. The houses are more warmer than the old state house's due to the high quality insulation pads installed.

Auckland Girls Grammar Production: Grease

Glenbrae school was invited by one of the Auckland girls students to attend their production. Though we didn't need to pay anything because it was only a dress rehearsal, (best one I've been to so far!).

The production they were acting out was one of the best 50's movie back then, Grease!. Grease lightning is a comedy music and teen film!. Students from Auckland Girls and from St Pauls acted out the marvelous show!.

I've got to say, both schools had done a superb job. They for sure made Grease their own, I was very impressed!. Their singing was amazing as well as their acting skills. I was very impressed with how they managed to work with the space they were given!. I loved watching the production, it was funny, shocking and over whelming too!. Once again!, the boys and the girls were amazing actors, dancers and singers!.

Now that I had watched the production, it inspired me and made me think of joining a production in the future. I can't wait until it's my turn to participate in my college production!.

Thank you to Miss.Elia and her niece (One of the main actors) who invited our school to the dress rehearsal.

How to play Netball Rugby

Yesterday, my class was given the task to create a piece of procedure writing, which is the genre my class is focusing on this week, about How to play Netball Rugby. Basically Procedure is like a guide or following step to step instructions of how to do something. An example of a procedure is a Recipe, Recipes have several instructions of how to bake or to cook something.

This is my short procedure writing on How to play Netball Rugby. Hopefully my procedure writing is well written enough that you know how to play!.

How to play Netball Rugby

Netball Rugby is a combination of two sports put together to create one game. The game contains netball rules and is played with a rugby ball, but any ball is suitable.

Netball rules are incorporated in the game, rules including no stepping with the ball, three feet away and three seconds with the ball. The rugby part incorporated in the game is the rugby ball and rugby passes.

Once you know the rules, positioning is the next step. There should only be two teams, with as many players as you prefer but as long as the teams are equal. Each team stand opposite to each other in a line in the middle of the court. One person, preferably the referee, stands in between both teams and then tosses the ball through the middle. Both teams make an attempt to receive the ball.

To win the game, the team with the ball must make their way to the end of the opposite court, following all rules, and place the ball in the try area. The team that scores the most amount of points win the game.

All about KJ Apa- Wondering wall display

On Monday, my class was given the task of creating sharing work about anything we wanted to learn about, to display on our "Wondering Wall". The Wondering Wall, is an area on our corridor class display, where numerous things our class wonder about or want to know more about!.

My Wondering Wall task that I chose to focus and do a research on, was KJ Apa. I chose to research him, because he's my favourite actor and for a New Zealander, he's making a superb name for himself in the (American&NZ) movie/television industry.

This is what I created to share my learning on KJ Apa. I stated information about his career and his remarkable internet presence on social media apps. I also stated information on his more personal information such as his age, family, ethnicity and background data on his tattoo. Enjoy!.

Figure it out-Maths

Yesterday and today, my class were focusing on word problems from the Figure it out books. The page I work ed on was the page about Listing factors.

I listed all the factors from 1-20. I found that there were numerous patterns in the factors I listed. I also found that there were eight numbers that only had two factors. All those numbers are prime numbers, (235711131719). Fun fact if you don't already know, Prime numbers is a natural number greater than 1 with no positive divisor. Prime numbers has exactly two factors, 1 and itself. I now know the factors of all the numbers from 1-20. Here are the factors for each number.
1-1,
2-1,2
3-1,3
4-1,2,4
5-1,5
6-1,3,6
7~1,7
8-1,2,4,8
9-1,9
10-1,2,5,10
11-1,11
12-1,2,3,4,6,12
13~1,13
14-1,2,14
15-1,5,15
16-1,2,4,8,16
17-1,17
18-1,2,3,6,9,18
19-1,19
20-1,2,4,5,10,20

I also completed the next page which contained decimal problems. I found the decimal problems challenging and I think I rose to the occasion when I was given the questions. I really enjoyed working with the figure it out book, it really got me thinking hard!.

All about fire study questions

One of the activity's my class were given by Mr.Naf in our science intensive lesson about fire, we were given questions to answer using a website(All about fire). Here are the questions and the my answers.

  1. What is fire?
1a) A fire is a process in which substances are combined with oxygen igniting and creating light, heat and smoke. Fire is a substance that gives power, which is also a chemical reaction.
  1. What are the three components of fire?
2a) The three components of fire are
  • Fuel (A flammable liquid that will burn)
  • Heat (High temperature that will forsure burn fuel)
  • Air(Oxygen)

  1. Identify and name the stages in a fire
3a) The stages in a fire are
  • Ignition: Fuel, Air, Oxygen that ignites and creates a chemical reaction. To prevent further damage, this stage could be stopped by a fire extinguisher
  • Growth: As the flames begin to ignite, convection and radiation ignate more surfaces. The size of the flames then increase largely
  • Decay: Fire eats up any available fuel around, the flames slowly decrease and the fire's intensity also decreases

  1. Fire spreads in three different ways. What are these different ways?
4a) The three ways are
  • Conduction
  • Convection
  • Radiation

  1. What are the four ways for putting out fires.
5a)
  • Cool the burning material
  • Exclude oxygen
  • Remove the fuel
  • Break the chemical reaction
6.      How are fires classified?
6a)Fires are based on the fuel type.
7.       Describe each types of fire.

Fire Safety Poster🔥

Today in Room 7's science intensive lesson with Mr.Naf, we did various activity's and learning about fire, fire hazards and fire safety!. One of the activity's we did, was creating a Fire Safety poster, using exemplars online to get a idea of what to create.

I created a poster which briefly shows the three steps of what to do if your clothes catch on fire. Hope you enjoy my poster.
